Second reserve Lakeview Walter has been scratched from Saturday night’s $1.145 million TAB Phoenix at The Meadows after succumbing to a ligament injury on Monday. The Gippsland superstar is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, leaving Lala Kiwi as the only available reserve in the inaugural Phoenix. Ashburton meeting postponed

The Ashburton races scheduled for Thursday have been postponed until Tuesday 21 December. The RIB (Racing Integrity Board) inspected the track at 3.30pm on Wednesday along with the track manager and found water pooling. There has been approximately 30mm of rain on Thursday. The forecast through to mid-morning Thursday is for a further 50mm – 70mm of rain.
