It is intended that the review will seek input from Clubs including club track staff, participants and key stakeholders. The existing GRV policy will be reviewed to support the structured approach on track maintenance and preparation. It is intended that the review will be completed by early September.…

Daily Mail: Future stars on show

A fascinating Restricted Win Final over 450m is among the highlights tonight at Shepparton featuring Beretta Boy (3 from 5 Trk/Dst) v Invictus Jaxson (25.18sec PB) v Studley (2 from 3 Box 4) v Pure Quality (multiple city winner). Invictus Jaxson is The Watchdog’s top pick, while another who should be respected is G1-bred Alfie Alligator (Barcia Bale x Maja Mahi Mahi), who has won 4 from 9. Meanwhile, it’s hard to ‘imagine’ one of The Watchdog’s ‘Bets of the Day’, Visualiser (6 from 13), not winning on this program.…

Dogs to follow

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of greyhounds to follow from around Victoria. You may even want to add them to your Blackbook account. FERNANDO FRANK Breeding: Mar ’18 Fernando Bale x Naughty CazzaTrainer: David Knocker, PearcedaleRecord: 44 starts 8-12-4Comment: Has had absolutely no luck in his races of late and his run of unfavourable box draws have not helped. Lakeview Lola’s ‘Explosive’ turnaround

The Whelan family have enjoyed fairy tale success with G1 performers Lakeview Walter and Lakeview Cruiser in 2021. And it seems they’ve produced another Lakeview ‘magic act’ with the dramatic turnaround in fortunes of Lakeview Lola, which is chasing her fourth straight win at Sale on Sunday night in the Cutler Cup special event over 650m (race 8 @ 7.22pm). After taking 17 starts to break her maiden,  Lakeview Lola has won three on end, gapping her rivals in her last two victories over 520m, scoring by 10 and 6.5…

Il Affare joins leading Sydney barn

Peter and Dawn Williams have lost one of their best three-year-old fillies to an Australian stable, but they’ve still got some other good fillies to keep them going in the new season. Peter Williams confirmed that Il Affare (NZ) (Duneel), who competed with distinction against the male and female three-year-olds this season, left the stable about two weeks ago and has joined the all-powerful Chris Waller team. Il Affare won twice this season and has put up a number of top performances in black type company, finishing third in the…

High aims for returning Rose

Melbourne Cup hopeful Tralee Rose (NZ) (Tavistock) has recovered from minor knee surgery and is back in work as trainer Symon Wilde sets his sights high for the spring. The dominant off-season performer, who ran fourth in the Adelaide Cup as a $1.85 favourite, is currently $51 for the Gr.1 Melbourne Cup (3200m). Wilde said he was happy with how the daughter of Tavistock had returned as they build her fitness up towards the spring. “She’s done a couple of weeks, we are just building towards the spring with her,”…

Lucky Patch breaks 14-year-old record at Sha Tin

Francis Lui’s Lucky Patch (NZ) (El Roca) proved too superior for his rivals in the Class 1 Hong Kong Racehorse Owners Association Trophy Handicap (1200m). The El Roca gelding clocked 1m 07.61s to lower Sacred Kingdom’s Class 1 mark of 1m 07.80s set in 2007. Lui believes the four-year-old can progress to better class. “If he can improve, I think he can be a Group horse. We might look at racing him in the Chief Executive’s Cup on opening day,” he said. The Chief Executive’s Cup Handicap is a Class…

Melbourne Options for Pike colt

Talented three-year-old Not An Option (Not A Single Doubt) rounded out his campaign with a game third placing in Sunday’s Gr.3 Winx Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast. The Tony Pike-trained colt went back to last with eventual winner Our Playboy, but unlike the winner who followed the rail home, Not An Option attempted to loop the field and ran home solidly for third. “The run was super,” Pike said of the son of Not A Single Doubt.  “He ended up getting shuffled back to near last, a mile off…

Chipperfield turns back clock at Te Aroha

It’s been a little while between drinks, but Clayton Chipperfield was back in the winner’s stall as a rider at Te Aroha on Sunday aboard Locally Sauced (NZ) (Iffraaj) in the Yelavich Transport LTD 2200. The Waikato hoop made a return to riding this year after a 15-year hiatus and he said the victory was made even sweeter by the fact his daughters were there to witness it. “It was a big thrill and I had my daughters there with me,” Chipperfield said. “It was the first time they have…

Spratt keeps winning run going with Te Rapa victory

The ever-popular northern jockey Sam Spratt kept her recent run of good form going when she produced a heady ride to score aboard the Tony Devcich-trained Pow Wow (NZ) (Power) in the last race on the card at Te Rapa on Saturday. Spratt had been successful aboard the four-year-old son of Power when he won over 970m on debut on the new Cambridge synthetic track last month and followed that up on the weekend with another impressive performance. Spratt, who had picked up a winning double at Ruakaka a week…
