Morrison on weather watch

By Joshua Smith, Harness News Desk Like many, Canterbury horseman John Morrison isn’t too keen on the heavy rain in Canterbury this weekend. He will take just the one runner to Addington Raceway on Sunday and he is hoping the track isn’t too adversely affected by the weather. While he doesn’t think the chances of Harrison will be diminished by the wet conditions in the Lamb & Hayward Handicap Pace (2600m), he is hoping the track won’t be too slushy. “Hopefully the track is not too bad on Sunday with…

Hong Kong Derby winner Sky Darci poised ahead of Lion Rock Trophy return

Derby hero Sky Darci (left) resumes at Sha Tin on Sunday. Caspar Fownes is confident BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m) winner Sky Darci has the quality and versatility to capitalise on favourable weight conditions to bolster the record of younger gallopers in the Group 3 Lion Rock Trophy Handicap (1600m) at Sha Tin on Sunday (30 May). Sky Darci will carry just 115lb, a probable 1lb over his allotted 114lb – a significantly favourable impost, given four of five winners in the race’s brief history have carried 118lb or less…

Presutto’s triple treat for Oaks

It’s no easy feat to qualify three runners for any feature final and Devon Meadows trainers Peter and Natalie Presutto hope it will translate into victory in Sunday afternoon’s Healesville Oaks final (350m) – Race 6 at 12.19pm. The Presuttos have the fastest heat winner in Jazz Opera, winner of the Group 3 Vic Bred Maiden at The Meadows on Australian Cup night in February, which claimed her third straight win and fifth from 13 overall with a 19.55sec qualifying performance. It was Jazz Opera’s second win from three starts…
