Magic Millions 3yo Classic Betting Preview

The Magic Millions 3YO Guineas over the 1400m has shaped to be one of the races of the day, if not the race of the day. The market has it a real race in three, between Isotope, Away Game and Forbidden Love, which on form alone, seems spot on. Apache Chase looks the natural leader in the race, while Away Game, Forbidden Love and Isotope are likely to be not far away at all.

Bet on the 2021 Magic Millions 3YO Classic

1 – Apache Chase (1)

Looks the likely leader in the race after running his rivals into the ground in the Vo Rogue. Prior to that, he ran third behind Isotope and Away Game which is very good form. He should be in this for a long way.

2 – Our Playboy (13)

Won the Vain Stakes at Caulfield beating the likes of Ranting and Rulership, but hasn’t fired a shot in two Queensland runs. We can’t have him here.

3 – Away Game (3)

Away Game is hoping to win the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and 3YO Guineas in successive years, and she looks a great chance of doing so. After having a big two-year-old season, the filly was super in her racetrack return when second to Isotope. Up to 1400m and nearly a month between runs will have her peaking in what has been clearly noted that this is her grand final. She has drawn well and gets Glen Boss aboard who rides the track well. She’ll be right in this.

4 – Yes Baby Yes (16)

Craig Williams is up to partner Yes Baby Yes in this race, and he’ll have his work cut out from the wide alley. She was a winner around The Valley two starts ago, but has since been no match for the mares at Eagle Farm. We can’t have her.

5 – Amish Boy (17)

Amish Boy has multiple Group placings and wasn’t beaten all that far in a Caulfield Guineas. If he brings his best form, he is a huge smokey here in our opinion. He carries some of the best Melbourne form and has to carry 1kg less than the likes of Away Game.

6 – Shooting For Gold (20)

Shooting For Gold has an impressive record of four wins from seven starts, including three straight wins prior to his last start run on Saturday. He has drawn poorly here which might put an end to his chances, but he is a smart gelding and can’t be completely overlooked.

7 – Kavak (6)

The $126 is generous.

8 – Aim (18)

Aim looked a serios contender for the 2YO race last year but he hasn’t gone on with the job since. He’s a winner second up in the past and the drier track will suit him, but gee it’d be a surprise to see him win it.

9 – Safework (10)

Safework was a real eye-catcher first-up this campaign but he just hasn’t gone on with the job. Prefer others.

10 – Magic Conqueror (8)

This Love Conquers All colt was flying last preparation but he hasn’t taken the next step this time in.

11 – Mishani Fraudster (5)

Hasn’t won since July last year, and even then he didn’t beat much. Would have to start at the 900m marker to be any hope.

12 – Forbidden Love (4)

Richard & Michael Freedman saddle up a serious filly here in Forbidden Love. The daughter of All Too Hard was an unlucky runner at Group 1 level in the Spring when third in the Empire Rose behind Shout The Bar and Odeum which is some very competitive formlines especially for a race like this. She then came out and bolted in at Gosford in the Guineas in what was a perfect bit of fine tuning. Jim Byrne on from barrier 4 looks the perfect recipe for success in this.

13 – Isotope (7)

The SP profile punters would be laughing themselves to sleep in the lead up to Saturday here, with Isotope a $2.45 favourite. The Tony Gollan trained filly has won her last two starts at $1.50 and was too good for Away Game at her latest. She has drawn well again in gate seven and has been racing superbly this prep, but she does have the challenge of conquering the 1400m journey, given she finished tenth in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins last campaign over the same journey. If she gets the trip easily enough, she’ll be hard to beat.

14 – Smart ‘n’ Sexy (19) – SCRATCHED

15 – Gotta Kiss (9)

Gotta Kiss sits on the fourth line of betting but she is potentially the forgotten horse here at $13. She was very unlucky last time out when second to Apache Chase over the 1400m, and the only other time she has raced at the trip was when she was a runner-up to Rothfire at Group 1 level. She’s got a nice gate under Steph Thornton, and will be hitting the line very hard late.

16 – Lady Banff (21) – SCRATCHED

Emergencies Listed Below

17EM1 – Redoute’s Image (14)

She’s been racing very well of late this filly, but was no match for Forbidden Love two starts ago. Up to 1400m will suit, but it’s hard to see her troubling some of these.

18EM2 – Starosa (11)

Another one who keeps racing well in some tougher races, but this is as tough as it will get for her here. Would be shocked to see her number in the frame.

19EM3 – Boomnova (15)

Shooting for four straight wins is Chris Munce’s filly here so she would be unlucky not to get a start. She jumped out of the ground late to just beat Mishani Miss seven days ago, but she’d have to go to another level to win this.

20EM4 – Ellsberg (12)

Gerald Ryan’s colt has been racing really well of late in New South Wales and the form around him continues to stack up. He’d be a chance here.

21EM5 – Oscar Zulu (2)

Ran a really good race at Eagle Farm in the Vo Rogue behind Apache Chase and Gotta Kiss, so he would no doubt be competitive if he gets in the field.
