Triple Group One winning sprinter The Bostonian (NZ) (Jimmy Choux) will miss the remainder of the spring after suffering a fetlock injury in a gallop on Thursday. The Tony Pike-trained sprinter has been campaigning in Sydney but will return home to New Zealand for a spell. “Unfortunately, he pulled up a little bit short in front after a gallop on Thursday morning,” Pike said. “We have taken some x-rays of his front fetlock and with a bit of inflammation in there it looks like he has taken a small piece…

Meet the Mr. Fix Its
Veteran Geelong goal sneak Tom Hawkins has been the Cats’ forward line ‘Mr. Fix It’ this season. So, there’s an irony in the following cross-sports offer from TAB. The betting giant is offering $6.50 about “Tomahawk” kicking 2+ goals against Richmond tonight and Mr. Fix It – the greyhound – winning at Geelong. Hawkins has bagged 39 goals in 15 games (an average of 2.6 goals per game) and is leading the race for the Coleman Medal. Geelong are third (44pts) on the AFL ladder with 11 wins from 15…
Juan to watch at The Meadows
Darren Fisher says he’ll either look like “a genius or a fool” when much-hyped ex-NSW stayer Good Juan makes his hugely anticipated Victorian debut at The Meadows on Saturday afternoon. Good Juan created mainstream headlines in June when he “broke the Internet” after coming from an impossible position to win an unsuitable sprint race at Wentworth Park in Sydney. The stunning performance attracted close to half a million views on social media platforms, unprecedented numbers for greyhound racing. But just four runs later, Good Juan’s owner’s Bronte Kumm and Linda…
Track a concern for Bumper Blast
Trainer Rob Hickmott is keeping an eye on track conditions ahead of Saturday’s Listed Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington. New Zealand-bred gelding Bumper Blast (NZ) (Ocean Park) heads to the race on the back of a sixth-placed finish in the Listed Regal Roller (1200) at Caulfield last start. Hickmott said he was expecting an improved performance from the son of Ocean Park on Saturday as long as it’s not too wet. “He spun his wheels at Caulfield on that Soft6, he’s such a long horse,” Hickmott told racing.com. “Flemington can be…
Winning debut for Sacred Falls filly
All Hallow’s Eve (NZ) (Sacred Falls) made the perfect start to her racing career when winning at Hawkesbury on Thursday. The three-year-old daughter of Sacred Falls flew under the radar of punters due to two unplaced trial runs leading up to the race but proved too strong for her rivals in the 1100m test. Trained by John O’Shea, All Hallow’s Eve races in the silks of Rosemont Stud who race the filly in partnership with Waikato Stud’s Mark and Garry Chittick. The filly is out of Encosta De Lago mare…
