Chris Waller has claimed a seventh Gr.1 George Main Stakes (1600m) crown at Randwick but not with the horse punters expected. Sydney’s dominant trainer saddled up four of the seven runners in the Group One mile on Saturday with Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed) a warm $2.20 favourite. Hastings trainer John Bary has saddled plenty of big-race winners on home soil, but none with the shock factor of Callsign Mav’s $82 boilover in Saturday’s Gr.1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m).
