Vet visits given the ‘all clear’ under new restrictions
With regard to the Victorian Government’s latest set of restrictions, the Australian Veterinary Association offers the following advice: There are no restrictions on clients attending veterinary clinics – even if the veterinary clinic is not within a 5km radius of their home. Seeking veterinary care is considered ‘health and care’ and is therefore exempt from curfew hours – although appointments should be made within curfew hours, with emergency consultations only outside curfew hours. Seen as a vital link to getting youngsters into harness racing, Kidz Kartz is entering a new chapter. Gayleen Mackinnon has taken over as chair of the Kidz Kartz National Council from Trevor Beaton, who’s stood down because of poor health. “We would like to acknowledge Trevor’s outstanding contribution to the council,” says Mackinnon, “and also to thank two originals in Peter Ferguson and Hazel van Opzeeland for their service.” Both recently stepped down from the council. Bosson eager for race day return
Leading New Zealand jockey Opie Bosson is looking forward to his imminent return to raceday riding. Valachi Downs offer transport incentive
Valachi Downs will be offering breeders a free transport option between Wellfield Lodge near Palmerston North and their Matamata farm for the upcoming breeding season. The incentive is for mares booked to any one of Valachi Downs’ five stallions – Ten Sovereigns, US Navy Flag, Zacinto, Vespa, and Savile Row.
