McEvoy happy with Sunlight’s Irwin return
Trainer Tony McEvoy is pleased with how Sunlight has come through her second to Gytrash. Sunlight finished three lengths second to emerging sprint star Gytrash in Saturday’s Group Three 1100m-race at Morphettville. It was her first start since November after which she had surgery to remove a bone chip from the outside of a splint bone…

Waikato Stud celebrate further success for resident stallion Ocean Park
There was plenty of cause for celebration amongst the Waikato region’s thoroughbred breeding fraternity on Saturday afternoon following the running of the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick. The nail-biting last stride victory by Tofane (NZ) (Ocean Park) provided a triumph for both her breeder, Curraghmore Principal Gordon Cunningham, along with Waikato Stud and their resident stallion Ocean Park who is the sire of the Mike Moroney-trained four-year-old mare. Also celebrating were Kevin and Joanne Hickman’s Valachi Downs, who own Tofane’s dam Baggy Green, a half-sister to Group One…
Mansour in good spirits despite delay to recovery process
South African-born jockey Donovan Mansour is determined to remain positive about his long journey to recovery from a horrific raceday accident despite the current Covid-19 pandemic throwing him a major curveball in recent days. Mansour suffered a broken pelvis along with numerous internal injuries after an incident at the starting barriers at Te Aroha back in October where his mount reared up, went over backwards and came down on top of him. After being airlifted to Waikato Hospital by helicopter he was cleared of any spinal injury before undergoing surgery…
